The photo above shows an Eastern Grey kangaroo with pox. The roos involved were raised by Joy in Eagle Point a few years ago. Pox was confirmed on histopath with Wildlife Pathology Register.
Roo pox is transmitted by mosquitos. Recent local occurrences have occurred in East Gippsland. The lesion is a big, firm nodule on skin, and involves legs/ears/face, on joeys that are outside most of the time - ie at emerging/weaning. It grows slowly and does not affect the health of the joey.
