Note
:
There are a number of important factors to consider with regards to wildlife
held in smaller temporary enclosures, such as the effect on body condition -
whilst meeting the need for adequate acclimatization in a new area prior to
release. Consideration needs to be taken of the size of animal, relative to
the enclosure dimensions, activity requirements, age, and also of any
particular species' needs, with regards to enclosure space, to ensure that
the animal is in good condition at release, to enable the best chance of
survival. Smaller enclosures may also make useful temporary nursery holdings, for the
transition from indoors care, and also for initial transition from indoor
hospital care facilities, for animals recuperating from injuries, where
restricted space may be appropriate during healing.
